Food License (STATE & CENTRAL)

India's Food Safety and Standards Authority (FSSAI) is in charge of guaranteeing the quality and safety of food products. Obtaining an FSSAI registration or license is a must for starting a food business in India, depending on the size and type of the enterprise.

Determine the Type of License/Registration

Basic FSSAI Registration: Small-sized manufacturers, cottage industries, and small-scale food businesses such as petty food manufacturers can all benefit from this. If your company generates up to Rs. 12 lakhs in revenue annually, you can get this.

State FSSAI Licence: You must apply for a state license if your yearly revenue exceeds Rs. 12 lakhs but is less than Rs. 20 crores.

Central FSSAI License: A central license application is required if your yearly revenue surpasses Rs. 20 crores. Provide accurate information about your food business on the application form. Send in the application form and the necessary paperwork. The documents might contain a processing unit blueprint, evidence of business incorporation, and identity and address verification.

Payment of Fees: Depending on your business's category, pay the required fee for your FSSAI license or registration.

Inspection: The Food Safety Officer may come to your location to conduct an inspection following the receipt of your application and associated fees. The purpose of the inspection is to confirm the information submitted in the application.

Issuance of License/Registration: You will receive an FSSAI license or registration after your application has been examined and accepted.

Presentation of Licence: It is recommended that you prominently display the FSSAI license within your business premises.

Renewing a License:Depending on the type of license, the validity period for an FSSAI license can range from one to five years. Make sure to renew it on time.
